COMPAREHuntress SAT alternative · For MSPs

The Huntress SAT alternative built for Australian MSPs.

Huntress SAT (the former Curricula, acquired in 2022) is a genuinely strong, MSP-first product: fully managed monthly episodes and phishing campaigns, published per-learner pricing, and story-based training people actually watch. What it isn't is white-label - clients see Huntress's platform with your logo on it. Cyber Aware runs the same job entirely under the MSP's own brand - portal, emails and certificates on your own domain, with Essential 8 and SMB1001 mapped in from day one.

WHY MSPS SWITCH

Where the two platforms part ways.

🏷

White-label, not co-brand

Huntress's own materials confirm co-branding: your logo and colours on learner notifications, co-branded completion certificates, and a highlight colour and website URL on reports. But the portal is Huntress's - we found no option to host it on the MSP's own domain, and no confirmation that phishing-simulation emails carry the MSP's identity. Cyber Aware puts your logo and your own domain across the portal, emails, reports and certificates, with no vendor branding visible to end clients.

💺

No seat minimums or 12-month lock-in

Huntress publishes its pricing - a genuine credit in this category - at $2.08 per learner per month, but tiers start at the 50-99 learner band and the standard term is 12 months for both direct customers and MSPs. Cyber Aware is per-seat with no minimums and no annual commitment to plan around, which matters when your smallest client has eight staff.

🧭

Framework-mapped gap assessments, not certificate bundles

Huntress references Essential 8 in its Managed SIEM marketing and resells SMB1001 certifications through a CyberCert partnership - but we found no SAT content mapped to either framework, and no framework-mapped gap assessment anywhere in its SAT materials. Cyber Aware's gap assessments are Essential 8 and SMB1001-mapped and branded to the MSP from the first click.

🎛

Your programme, your controls

Huntress's pitch is hands-off: its team picks the monthly episode and runs the phishing calendar for every tenant. That's a real benefit if you want zero admin - and a real constraint if a client's auditor, insurer or industry needs a specific cadence, specific topics, or evidence mapped to a named framework. Cyber Aware automates the heavy lifting (Auto Phish builds a year of campaigns from one chat) while leaving the MSP in control of what runs where.

White-labeling: co-branding is confirmed, a white label isn't

Huntress documents its branding options well. The SAT settings panel lets partners customise "the color and logo displayed in learner notifications," completion certificates "can be co-branded to include your logo" per Huntress's own 2024 SAT wrap-up, and a separate support article covers adding a highlight colour and company URL to Huntress reports. Its MSP page markets the whole platform as running "under your trusted brand."

All of that is co-branding on Huntress's platform. We found no option to host the training portal on the MSP's own domain - learners sign in to Huntress via Microsoft, Google or Okta SSO - and no confirmation that phishing-simulation emails carry the MSP's sender identity. A third-party review site claims "customizable portals" and "removal of vendor branding," but no Huntress documentation we could find corroborates it.

Cyber Aware carries the MSP's own logo and domain across every touchpoint by default - portal, notification emails, phishing simulations, completion certificates and reports - with no Cyber Aware branding visible to end clients.

Pricing: published and fair - with a 50-learner tier and a 12-month term

Credit where due: Huntress publishes its pricing, which most vendors in this category don't. Managed SAT lists at $2.08 per learner per month on huntress.com, volume tiers reduce the per-learner rate as commitments grow, and billing counts only active users via daily directory syncs - inactive employees and shared mailboxes aren't charged.

The structure around that number is where MSPs should look closely. Huntress's pricing page shows tiers starting at the 50-99 unit band, and states the standard term is 12 months for direct customers and MSPs alike. A third-party pricing guide (UnderDefense, May 2026) corroborates the list rate and describes volume discounts from roughly 5% at 100-249 learners. For an MSP whose client list includes plenty of sub-50-seat businesses, tier minimums and an annual term are real planning constraints.

Cyber Aware publishes one per-seat rate with no seat minimums and no annual lock-in - the number on the card is the number.

The managed model: near-zero admin, in exchange for control

Huntress SAT's core bet is that MSPs don't want to run awareness programmes at all. Its team selects a monthly episode based on the global threatscape and assigns it on the first business day of each month; its threat researchers design, schedule and run phishing simulations end-to-end; and learners who click are auto-enrolled in Phishing Defense Coaching - a session built around the exact email they fell for. In 2024 Huntress reports sending over 930,000 simulations, and it added a game-style Threat Simulator in June 2025.

That model is genuinely good if hands-off is what you want. The trade-off is programme control: the cadence, topics and campaign calendar are Huntress's, and G2 reviewers note the training can feel light for mature audiences while the post-click coaching struck some users as punitive. When a client's insurer or auditor needs specific topics on a specific schedule with evidence against a named framework, a managed calendar you don't control cuts the other way.

Cyber Aware's Auto Phish gets an MSP the same effort profile - a full year of varied campaigns generated from one setup conversation - while the MSP keeps ownership of what runs, when, and under whose brand.

The Australian angle: real ANZ investment, no SAT framework mapping

Huntress has invested in Australia more visibly than most US vendors: a Sydney-based regional team since 2023, threat-ops coverage spanning the US, UK and Australia, a May 2026 Dicker Data distribution agreement, and phishing templates localised for Australian geography. Its CyberCert partnership lets Huntress partners buy SMB1001 certification bundles for clients.

Look closer at the frameworks, though, and the picture narrows. The Essential 8 references on huntress.com sit in Managed SIEM marketing - logging retention and maturity-level-two requirements - not in SAT. The CyberCert arrangement is a certification reseller partnership, not SMB1001-mapped training content. And Huntress's own support documentation states collected data is held in US-based data centres; we found no announcement of Australian data residency for any Huntress product.

Cyber Aware's training and gap assessments map to Essential 8 and SMB1001 directly, so the evidence an Australian client hands an auditor is framework-specific from the first report - under the MSP's brand, not ours.

FAIR SHAKE

When Huntress SAT might be the better fit

  • Want a fully managed programme with near-zero admin - Huntress's team picks the monthly episode and runs the phishing calendar end-to-end, and MSP reviewers on G2 and r/msp consistently praise how little hands-on time it needs.
  • Already run (or plan to run) Huntress EDR, ITDR or SIEM - one multi-tenant portal, one vendor, and SAT billing flows into ConnectWise, Autotask and HaloPSA alongside the rest of the stack.
  • Value published pricing and partner perks - the $2.08/learner list rate is on huntress.com, billing counts active users only, and MSPs get free internal-use licenses through the Neighborhood Watch program.
  • Want content end users genuinely enjoy - the story-based episodes (built by a team whose animators include Emmy credits) hold a 4.6/5 rating across 173 G2 reviews, and MSPs on r/msp report staff finding it significantly more engaging than prior tools.
QUESTIONS

Frequently asked

Is Cyber Aware a white-label alternative to Huntress SAT?

Yes. Cyber Aware is built specifically for MSPs to run training, phishing simulations and gap assessments under their own brand - portal, emails, reports and certificates all carry the MSP's own logo and domain, not Cyber Aware's.

Does Huntress SAT offer white-label branding for MSPs?

Huntress offers co-branding, not white-labeling. Its own documentation confirms custom logos and colours on learner notifications, co-branded completion certificates, and MSP branding on reports. As of July 2026, we found no option to host the training portal on the MSP's own domain and no confirmation that phishing-simulation emails carry the MSP's sender identity - end clients see Huntress's platform with the MSP's logo applied. Cyber Aware carries the MSP's own domain across the portal, emails, reports and certificates.

How much does Huntress SAT cost?

Huntress publishes its pricing: Managed SAT lists at $2.08 per learner per month on huntress.com as of July 2026, with volume tiers starting at the 50-99 learner band and a standard 12-month term for direct customers and MSPs. Billing counts active users only, via daily directory syncs. Cyber Aware publishes a single per-seat rate with no seat minimums and no annual lock-in.

Does Huntress SAT support Essential 8 or SMB1001 for Australian businesses?

Not at the SAT level, as far as we could find. As of July 2026, Huntress references Essential 8 in its Managed SIEM materials (logging and retention requirements), and it resells SMB1001 certification bundles through a partnership with CyberCert - but we found no SAT training content or gap assessment mapped to either framework. MSPs serving Australian clients should confirm current support directly with Huntress. Cyber Aware maps and evidences both frameworks out of the box.

What happened to Curricula?

Huntress acquired Curricula, the Atlanta-based story-driven awareness training startup, for $22 million in July 2022 and rebranded it as Huntress Security Awareness Training (Huntress SAT). The story-based episode format and characters carried over, and the product has since gained fully managed learning, managed phishing and Phishing Defense Coaching.

What does switching from Huntress SAT to Cyber Aware involve?

Most MSPs import client and end-user lists, apply the MSP's branding and own domain to the portal and templates, and schedule the first phishing and training campaigns - typically a same-day setup with a published per-seat rate and no minimums or annual term to plan around.
