If you've searched for PhishLabs security awareness training recently, you've probably noticed something odd: phishlabs.com doesn't exist anymore. As of early 2026 the domain redirects to Fortra's Brand Protection page, which sells domain monitoring and phishing takedowns - not employee training.
That's not a website glitch. It's the final step in a six-year wind-down that a lot of MSPs missed. Here's the timeline, verified against the public archive record as of July 2026.
The short answer
PhishLabs no longer sells security awareness training, and the PhishLabs brand no longer exists. Its managed training product was discontinued around early 2020, a Terranova referral page stood in for it from 2021 to 2024, and in the first quarter of 2026 phishlabs.com was retired entirely, redirecting into Fortra's site. Fortra's current answer for training buyers is Fortra Human Risk Management - the platform formerly known as Terranova Security. Gartner Peer Insights now lists the old product as "PhishLabs Security Awareness Training (Legacy)."
The full timeline
2017-2019: a genuinely different model. PhishLabs sold awareness training the way it sold everything else - as a managed service. Its "T2 Employee Defense Training" bundled nanolearning modules, phishing simulations built from real-world attack intelligence, and point-of-failure remediation, all run by PhishLabs' own team. In Gartner's 2019 Magic Quadrant for security awareness computer-based training, PhishLabs positioned itself as the only vendor delivering training exclusively as a managed service.
Early 2020: the quiet exit. Sometime between January and May 2020, the security awareness training page on phishlabs.com became a redirect into the company's email-protection product. There was no press release we could find - the archive record is the only evidence. PhishLabs had pivoted hard toward digital risk protection: brand monitoring, threat intelligence and takedowns.
October 2021: the Fortra acquisition. HelpSystems - later renamed Fortra - acquired PhishLabs, describing it as a "cyber threat intelligence company." Training wasn't mentioned in the announcement.
April 2022: Fortra buys an actual training vendor. HelpSystems acquired Terranova Security, a Canadian security awareness training platform. From that point, Fortra had no reason to rebuild training inside PhishLabs - and the archived PhishLabs training page from 2023 shows exactly what happened next: it became a referral page declaring "Terranova Security is the global partner of choice in Security Awareness Training," with every button pointing at Terranova demos.
April 2024: the referral page disappears. The training URL on phishlabs.com began redirecting to Fortra's generic security awareness page.
Early 2026: the brand itself retires. Between January and April 2026, phishlabs.com stopped resolving as a site at all and began redirecting to Fortra Brand Protection. The product once called PhishLabs Digital Risk Protection is now sold as Fortra Brand Protection - Gartner lists it under exactly that "formerly PhishLabs" label.
"PhishLabs white labeling" - what searchers are actually remembering
A surprising number of MSPs search for PhishLabs white-labeling. Here's the thing: PhishLabs never had a productized white-label or MSP program for training. Its archived partner page from 2019 shows an enterprise "Partner Ecosystem" - resellers and threat-intelligence alliances like Optiv, Fox-IT and FS-ISAC - not a multi-tenant platform MSPs could rebrand.
What people likely half-remember is that PhishLabs was itself a managed security service provider, and other MSSPs sometimes resold its managed anti-phishing services under their own name. Informal channel practice, yes. A white-label training platform, no.
The distinction matters because the searchers typing that query in 2026 usually want something specific: a security awareness platform they can run for many clients under their own brand. That product category exists and is healthy - it just never lived at PhishLabs.
What Fortra offers instead - and what it doesn't
If you follow Fortra's redirects today, training buyers land on Fortra Human Risk Management, the renamed Terranova platform: courses in 40+ languages, phishing and smishing simulations, and managed-service options. It's a credible enterprise product with a conventional reseller program.
What we could not find, as of July 2026:
- Any white-label offering. The partner program is reseller/referral tiers - training, certification, financial incentives. Cosmetic logo-and-colour co-branding exists on simulations and the portal, but no rebranding rights or MSP-domain hosting are advertised.
- Any multi-tenant MSP console. Nothing in the public partner materials describes managing many client organisations from one pane.
- Any published pricing. Terranova's own pricing page now redirects to its homepage; every path ends in a quote conversation.
- Any Australian framework mapping. Fortra's compliance marketing covers PCI DSS, NIST CSF, GDPR, HIPAA and CMMC - we found no Essential 8 or SMB1001 content anywhere.
We compared the Terranova/Fortra platform against Cyber Aware in detail - white-label depth, pricing transparency, phishing automation and Australian compliance - in our Terranova alternative comparison, with every claim sourced and dated.
If you're an MSP holding this requirement in 2026
The requirement that used to send people to PhishLabs - phishing simulation and awareness training run as a service, informed by real attack patterns - hasn't gone away. It's just answered differently now. If you're evaluating platforms, three questions will sort the market quickly:
- Whose brand does the client see? Portal domain, notification emails, phishing sends and certificates - not just a logo slot on the login screen.
- What happens with a 12-seat client? Seat minimums and annual terms quietly decide whether small clients are profitable.
- Can it evidence the frameworks your clients get audited against? For Australian MSPs that means Essential 8 and SMB1001 mapping, not a generic compliance badge wall.
We maintain a full comparison of the white-label security awareness market for MSPs - eight platforms across seven dimensions, every claim cited and dated - including the vendors that picked up the demand PhishLabs left behind.
